J1221NS Danckwerts School Development Project
Zimbabwe, Africa
In partnership with Wild is Life and Mitchie Foundation

Wild is Life/Zimbabwe Elephant Nursery is committed to not only conserving wildlife but also supporting sustainable development within the local community. One of the primary ways we can achieve this is through supporting the local farm school. By addressing the needs of the school, we can enhance education, support conservation efforts, and improve the livelihoods of children in impoverished circumstances.
- Infrastructure Development and Utilities: the school is lacking access to clean potable water and this leads to sickness, poor hygiene and low attendance rates. Water systems will be improved by equipping a borehole and providing access to clean and safe water, this is crucial for the health and wellbeing of the children, teachers and caretakers. The school is experiencing long power outages on a daily basis which is affecting the standard of education. By installing solar panels and rechargeable battery systems, the students and administration block will have uninterrupted lessons and better lighting in the classrooms.
- Safety: There is currently no barrier between the school and the farm village, there is a requirement for a fence to be erected around the school property to ensure the children are kept safe and secure whilst on the school grounds.
By addressing these needs, Wild is Life/ZEN aims to create a brighter future for the children, strengthening education, conservation, and improving livelihoods in the community.
