J894NT Changing Nations Education Initiative Teacher Support

Uganda, Africa

The Situation

The Pader district of Northern Uganda is a district developed from refugees ravaged by the civil war and the genocide of Joseph Koney and his “Lord’s Resistance Army” until 2006.

The district has been generationally decimated and is just now just finding its feet.

The region is made of primarily agricultural communities, many recovering from post-traumatic stress and family displacement. As a result, access to education is constrained due to a lack of finances to cover school fees and uniform costs, depriving boys and girls of a basic education.

The Objectives

To provide salaries for teachers and staff for Wisdom Gate Nursery and Primary School, Pader Northern Uganda, which provides free education for children from extremely poor families who would otherwise have no opportunity to attend school.
